March Ipsy Bag

It’s March guys!!

One of my favorite months (besides October of course) by far. March has it all for me. The beginning of spring, wildflowers sprouting, warm weather, and the time change have me so excited for summer. One of the perks of living in North Texas is how fast the weather warms up. I’m sure I’ll be wishing for cold days once July rolls around, but for now I’m seriously enjoying these warm and sunny afternoons.

I didn’t think Ipsy would keep killing it, but they are consistently surprising me as each month seems to get better and better. Here’s what I received this month:

I know, I know. I’m not creative and I didn’t color my bag with the markers they sent. The reason I didn’t color it is because I thought it was super cute the way it was, so I left it alone.

The theme for March was “Create”. I love this theme, it’s exactly what I’ve been needing to hear. I think with the arrival of spring weather and longer days, a push in the direction to create is super helpful to get out of that winter laziness. Skyler and I have been busting ass on our photography website, and I think a little creativity is just what I need right now.

The first item I’m going to talk about is this small blending sponge by Herminerals.

As a person who exclusively uses sponge’s for foundation and concealer, I was excited that Ipsy included a small blending sponge in my bag. I really hate buying sponges on my own, because I’m never sure if they’ll actually work correctly or not. I’ve been needing something more small and angular for my under eye concealer, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well this worked. It’s much easier than trying to blend out my concealer with my giant Real Techniques sponge. This is definitely an A+ in my book.

The next product I received was this coconut Balm Dotcom lip balm by Glossier. If any of you don’t know, I’m ridiculously obsessed with lip balm. I carry my Burt’s Bees Cucumber Mint lip balm around like my life depends on it. I was once late to school, realized I didn’t have any lip balm, and drove all the way back home to get it.

I have a problem.

So of course I was super stoked about this. Unlike many lip balms, this one isn’t sticky, tacky, or uncomfortable in any way. You have to squeeze it out and apply it with your fingers, so if you prefer to apply it directly to your lips, you may not like it. The coconut scent is nice but subtle, and while it definitely doesn’t beat Burt’s Bees, you can never have too many lip balms.

I also received this Winky Lux Powdered Lights in Charm, which is basically a pink holographic highlight. When I first swatched it on my hand, I thought that it was supposed to be a creme-colored eyeshadow, but when I moved my hand around I saw the pink holo effect. It’s honestly really cool, but very difficult to capture on camera.

In the photo I took above, it just looks like a regular highlight and you can’t see the pink holo effect. I haven’t worn it on my face yet, because I honestly don’t want my face looking pink. I still think it’s cool though, and I’ll form a stronger opinion on it once I’ve actually worn it a few times.

I’ve been running low and planning on buying some new mascara, so this product came at the perfect time. This Lash Alert mascara by Eyeko is in an adorable blue bottle, and I actually really enjoy using this. It gives me noticeable length on my lashes without being clumpy, and the applicator is quite nice as well. I may purchase the full size once I run out. I’ve been using it every day since I got it in the mail, so I’m sure it won’t be lasting too much longer.

When I looked at my sneak peak email from Ipsy a while back, I was so excited to see this. These Renewal Oil drops by Twila True Beauty are a dream. I used it on my face as a light moisturizer and primer before applying foundation, and it lightly rejuvenated by face without being heavy or sticky. So many oils put me off because of how thick and greasy they are, but this is very lightweight. I was prepared to wipe my hands off after applying it, but I didn’t need to as it soaked in without leaving any residue. If you’re interested in some fragrance free moisturizing oil, I would definitely give this a try.

What did you guys receive in your Ipsy bags? Did you get any of the same products? Let me know in the comments below♡
