Last month my husband Skyler and I decided that we seriously needed some photos of us together.
Despite taking photos of anything and everything, Skyler hates getting his photo taken. That seems to be such a guy thing, and it’s so frustrating because as a couple, I love having photos of us together to look back on. So I bitched and moaned for months, and kept suggesting different friends of ours that could do our photos. However, we planned on using them for our website and didn’t want other people’s content in the same place that we were trying to sell our own.
So, we decided to just set up a tripod and do them ourselves.
We wanted an outdoors-y type location, because we LOVE being outside and that’s really what our brand is all about. We decided to drive up to Turner Falls in Oklahoma and get some shots at golden hour.
Basically, we saw a cute field, parked our truck and hopped the fence.
I’m super happy with how they turned out, and I know that our personalities wouldn’t have been captured quite the same if someone else were taking the photos.
Pro-tip: If you want some cool photos, wear neutrals and a wide-brimmed hat!
We had so much fun doing our photos ourselves, and I’m ready to get back out there and take some more this summer. We’re doing an engagement shoot in this area next weekend, so I can’t wait to see how those will turn out.
