Here’s what I received in my April Ipsy bag.
April’s Ipsy bag is the first bag so far I’ve received where I think I got more use out of the bag than the products inside it. Don’t get me wrong, I love most of the products I received, but I didn’t think I would love the bag as much as I do. I’ve already used it multiple times to carry my makeup when going out of town. It’s some sort of faux leather feeling material, so I don’t have to worry about dog hair clinging to it. I’m obsessed with the cute pattern and metallic corners of it too.
I’ve donated a few of my Ipsy bags that I just wasn’t into, but I’m definitely going to keep this bag in my collection for as long as it will hold up.
Now, the first product I’m going to be talking about is the Nailmedic keratin and calcium infused nail polish. This polish is in a beautiful mint shade that I love so much. It’s so pastel and perfect for spring in my opinion. I painted my nails and toes with it, but like normal my nails began to chip after a few days. I’m always doing something with my hands (cleaning, washing dishes, etc) so my nail polish honestly never lasts long at all. It took me three coats to get it opaque enough for my liking, but this polish is very worth it to me. It’s perfect for a springtime pedicure and makes me look tan so that’s just a bonus. I love this polish and would definitely repurchase.
The next product I received I just wasn’t excited about at all. I got the Smashbox Always On Lipstick in the shade Miss Conduct. Now, I love Ipsy but don’t know what they were thinking sending this shade out. Maybe I’m a little dramatic or weird, but I most definitely coordinate my makeup according to this season. This shade is a super dark vampy color that is something I would wear in the late autumn or wintertime. To me, the start of springtime is for pastels and pretty nude lipsticks.
Luckily the color itself IS very beautiful, and the applicator is a little pointed so applying it is much easier in my opinion. As dark as the color is, it’s not too patchy and you don’t have to go over it a million times to achieve an even color. I didn’t wear it for long but it didn’t dry my lips out like a desert either. I truly like this lipstick, but it wasn’t what I was wanting or needing for this time of the year. Hopefully I will get some use out of it when winter rolls around again.
I also received the Trissola Leave In conditioner. Once again, I think this is a nice product but I don’t even use conditioner on my hair so this will probably take a LONG time to get used up. As you can tell from my photos, I have a short pixie cut so there’s absolutely no reason for me to use conditioner or leave in conditioner. I have thick hair and when it was long I always used these products, but now that it’s short I only wash it one to two times a week and conditioner really throws the texture of my hair out of wack.
However, the smell of this product is absolutely phenomenal. It reminds me of something from when I was younger that I just can’t place. I used it on the tips of my hair to tame it the other day and it worked very well, so I will most likely just use it occasionally at a sort of taming/styling tool. If any of you ladies do love leave in conditioner, I would highly recommend this product. The scent alone is perfect.
Next, I received the Vasanti concealor buffer brush.
I always love receiving new makeup tools but for some reason I wasn’t super stoked on this. The quality seems great though, I just haven’t used it yet so I can’t say much on how well it works.
Lastly, I got the Purlisse Coconut Oil + Coffee Sugar Body Scrub.
This product says it “smoothes, exfoliates, nourishes, & deeply moisturizes” and that it is suitable for all skin types. I’m pretty coffee obsessed so the scent of this is great to me. I’ve only used it twice in the shower and I’d say it isn’t anything overly amazing. It exfoliates well and smells nice, especially if you shower in the morning because it smells like my morning coffee. However, and I know I’m probably going to sound like a weirdo, I do not get the coconut oil obsession.
I know I probably sound crazy, and I even used to use coconut oil religiously, but I honestly don’t like it that much! I now use jojoba oil and argon oil instead of lotion or coconut oil, and in my opinion it is so much better. Coconut oil leaves my skin feeling greasy and that feeling just does not go away for quite a while. This product is no exception. It exfoliates nicely and smells good, but it leaves that greasy coconut oil feeling on your body. No thank you. My jojoba oil deeply moisturizes my skin and absorbs quickly without leaving a thick residue. So while this product isn’t bad and I know I’ll use it up, it’s not something I would go out of my way to repurchase.
