Project Pan: Oldies/Non-Cruelty Free

Hey everyone!

After too much time browsing r/panporn on Reddit, I decided I needed to start my own Project Pan. I know in my last few recent blog posts I’ve talked about transitioning to cruelty-free beauty products, but I still have quite a few non-cruelty free makeup products to go through. I won’t be throwing them away (that’s just a waste of money and product), so I’m going to be forcing myself to use most of them all up.

I’ll be talking about which products I’ve been panning, as well as what I’m considering for their replacements.

The first product I’m *attempting* to pan is the L’Oreal True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makup in the shade W1-2 porcelain/light ivory.

I say attempting to pan because holy crap I am tan right now, and this is my winter shade. Basically, I have been mixing in some darker bb cream with this when I apply, and then bronzing the shit out of my face. It works out pretty well considering how light it is before mixing it.

I actually really like this foundation. It works well with my skin type (normal/dry), and I like the way it smells. For it’s replacement, I’m leaning towards the Urban Decay Naked Skin and the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea water foundation. I only purchased this originally because I needed something quick and cheap, and one of my good friends recommended I try this. I’m a huge believer in investing in a good foundation, so I don’t mind looking at some pricier options.

The next product I’m panning is the Revlon Colorstay Pressed Powder in the shade 810 Fair.

As you can see, I’m finding this super easy to pan. I go through face powder like nobody’s business so it won’t be long until this is gone. In my opinion, this is a pretty solid face powder too. There’s nothing exciting about it, but it does its job.

I’m too lazy to repress this and there’s really no need considering it’s not difficult to pick up product on my brush. I actually won’t need any replacements for this because I have some Wet n Wild setting powder and Tarte setting powder that should do the job just fine.

Next is the Almay Smart Shade CC cream. I was initially interested in this product because it was super affordable ($12 I think), and it’s hypoallergenic. I think this stuff is nice for a “no-makeup makeup look”. It’s good when I want my skin to look a bit more presentable but don’t want to mess with a full face.

The replacement I’ll be purchasing for this is the Pacifica Ultra CC Cream Radiant Foundation. It’s a vegan product and retails for only $18, so it’s not much more than the Almay one.

Okay guys, this is so embarrassing. I think I’ve had this for like seven years. I don’t even like Covergirl. I never have! This is their Trublend minerals mineral blush. I looked it up and it’s actually still a product that they sell, but of course the packaging has changed.

It’s basically a loose shimmery powder that’s supposed to be used as a blush. It’s pretty subtle though, and I used to use it as a collarbone/shoulder highlight. The fact that I’ve had this for over seven years tells you that I don’t really give a shit about it. If I haven’t used it up in that amount of time, I probably never will. I don’t think this will even be getting panned. I’m most likely going to toss it, and I won’t be looking for a replacement either.

The last product I’m going to give another try is the Maybelline Eyestudio eyeliner in Blackest Black. I used to use this in high school all the time, and I bought it again because I remembered how much I liked it. As you can tell from the photo, I’ve tried to use it maybe twice.

I don’t know if it’s the eyeliner brushes I’m using, or if I got a dud, but I’m having such a hard time getting this product to work for me. I have no idea how I’m going to pan it when I have plenty of other eyeliners I prefer to use. If I can’t make it work for me, I may give it away to a friend who will use it. The replacement for this will probably be the NYX Professional Makeup Gel Eyeliner.

These aren’t the only non-cruelty free products I’m trying to get rid of, but they are the ones I’m focusing on at the moment. Have you ever tried a project pan, and did you go insane before you finished? That’s how I’m starting to feel. If you have any awesome recommendations I would love to know in the comments below!♡
