Long time no post lol. Things have been crazy to say the least and I finally got the time to sit down and write out my thoughts.
Skyler and I are back from Colorado and fully moved into our house! I hate moving with a passion so the first few days really sucked as we were getting everything unpacked. Almost everything is finally in its place though, and all I can think of is how I can’t wait to start decorating this house exactly how I want.
Our Colorado trip started out pretty rocky (HA that’s punny). We drove for like 16 hours, and I was pretty dehydrated and starving to death. We went too high too fast driving up Lookout Mountain in Golden and whaddaya know, we both got altitude sickness.
I’ve literally never had altitude sickness before, and I’ve gone from sea level to Estes Park in a matter of hours. I think we were just exhausted and hungry and our bodies hated us for it. I’ll just say that I’ve never felt so terrified in my life. It was late af at night and we were driving up the mountain and I got the worst feeling I’ve ever felt, like impending doom. I was trying to not freak Skyler out so I told him to please take the next exit and go back down the mountain.
I felt like I was being crushed, I was shaking, could barely speak, and could barely type anything into my phone. Skyler told me he felt super weird too, and my anxiety was so bad that I had an anxiety attack. I told him to call our friend who lives in Denver and tell him we were staying the night at his place (we were originally headed up the mountain to camp for the night). I proceeded to throw up at his place, and had other stomach issues if ya know what I mean.
It was the most terrifying experience of my life and I barely got any sleep that night. The next morning I was telling my mom about it and turns out I had severe altitude sickness, and probably should’ve gone to the ER. Oh well. The next day we felt super hungover and literally just layed around all day since we wanted to feel better for the wedding.
Despite the awful start, the rest of the trip actually went fantastic and we got to see so many beautiful mountains. The wedding was gorgeous and our couple was the sweetest in the world. We still aren’t completely finished with their gallery yet, but here’s a couple photos from their wedding.
I seriously had a blast doing their photos and can’t wait to crosspost the blog post when it’s ready. 🙂
The day after the wedding we drove up to Boulder to do a shoot at the Flatirons. They were so breathtaking and I actually really want to move to Boulder now in a few years. I feel like it was my town, it just resonated with me so much. Skyler and I are already making plans to get out of Texas when our careers are more steady.
We had wanted to drive up to Estes Park and check out Rocky Mountain National Park again, but honestly we knew we needed to head back home. We’re already planning a trip back to Colorado in November with one of our best friends and his fiance. I’ve only ever been in the summertime so I’m ready to see some actual snow.
I know it’s literally been a month since I posted, and I’m sorry for that. I plan on doing some more fun posts in the future, including adding an entire vegan food recipe section. I really want to do more lifestyle posts and things like that, so let me know if that’s something you might be interested in reading!
